Laboratory Grown Diamonds

Laboratory Grown Diamonds - we believe will never replace the diamonds that have been on this planet for billions of years - a diamond by nature can only be called a diamond if it is over 3.5 billion years old (wow).  All diamonds that have been dated so far were formed even before the dinosaurs went extinct, that's pretty impressive.  The oldest dated examples were forming prior to oxygen in the earths atmosphere.

Laboratory grown diamonds, often referred to as cultivated diamonds, man made diamonds, or even synthetic diamonds are created in a laboratory setting that emulates the natural process of a diamond's growth - only, taking a lot less time (say, 3 billion years less, give or take).

The process of growing diamonds is one of the most precise and difficult manufacturing techniques that humans have ever achieved.  To grow a gemstone quality diamond larger than one carat has taken man almost 60 years of research and development.

Laboratory diamonds can be grown in two ways.  The first is called HPHT High Pressuer High Temperature and the second is called CVD Chemical Vapor Deposition.

So why buy Laboratory Created Diamonds - they are cheaper! You can get a bigger diamond for your money! Can you tell the difference, no ! and only you will know! We remember when cubic zirconia's and moisenites came on the market every thought they would threaten the diamond and they didn't.  Only time will tell, buy diamonds have been around for billions of years and we are sure they will be around for billions of years to come.

Rolex Cosmograph Daytona Watch 116520

What a watch!

This piece has recently had a full Rolex service, it has been completley unworn since the service meaning it is in a fantastic condition. This watch has proven to be a brilliant investment over the years, the Rolex Daytona is the most sought after Rolex model out there at the moment.

This particular piece is also very collectable as it has a rare error on the dial as there is a gap between COSMOGR and the APH, these versions of the Rolex Daytona have been nicknamed the 'APH dial'.

Experience the Cosmograph Daytona.

Introducing our Distinctive Diamond Collection

Looking for a Diamond with a difference then look no further, our Distinctive Diamond Collection is beautifully crafted to showcase these wonderful and distinctive diamonds.

What makes these distinctive?  They are naturally coloured diamonds with all the multi coloured inclusions visible.

Unlike the diamonds you are used to seeing these diamonds completely embody everything that diamonds go through in their billion of years life cycle and we like to think that they have grown to be a little story in a gem...

Each diamond is unique.  Therefore you will never find one that looks the same.

We have taken these polished diamonds and they are all set in bespoke handmake mounts designed by our own diamond expert Becki.

Designed to show these diamonds at their best - they are set pavillion up, which means they are upside down or as we like to say 'bottoms up' this is to showcase each stone at it's best.   Because they are set pavillion up it doesn't matter what way the light hits them they will always sparkle.

Jewellery is a wonderful way of keeping memories alive…

2020 and 2021 will be years we will all remember, for various reasons.  For some bringing families together but for others losing family members.  Many of our customers regularly say – ‘this piece of jewellery is sentimental’.   They remember their Grandparents or parents wearing a piece of jewellery and fond memories come flooding back – memories of licking a bowl out after making cakes, or remembering your mum receiving that eternity ring for her birthday, your Grandfather reading stories to you as a child and seeing the ring he was wearing as he turned the pages as you ‘Went on a Bear Hunt’.

These items are passed down from generation to generation for them to enjoy.

We at Segal’s can restore jewellery,  make it look as it did when it was first given.  Did your Grandparent or Parent give you a ring that you wish to wear?

We can also provide those one off items for you to pass on to your children or grand-children.   A gold locket to hold the photo that they love and keep it close to their heart,  a signet ring to engrave with initials for your children to cherish forever!

Many of our vintage pieces are one of a kind,  so buy vintage when you see it as you might never find the same thing again.

Segal’s Jewellers have been in business for over 100 years and we are here for you now.

You Provide The Moment – We Provide The Memory
